Summary:
The story begins in the picturesque valleys of Kashmir, where Qais, a carefree and rebellious young man, falls deeply in love with Laila, a beautiful and spirited girl from a wealthy family. Their love blossoms quickly, but it is met with resistance from Laila’s family, who are embroiled in a long-standing feud with Qais’s family. Despite their efforts to stay together, societal norms and family expectations force them apart.
Laila is pressured into marrying another man, Ibaad (Sumit Kaul), to settle the family feud. Heartbroken and unable to bear the separation, Qais descends into madness and becomes known as “Majnu” (the mad one). He wanders the streets, consumed by his love for Laila, while she struggles to reconcile her feelings for Qais with her new life.
In a tragic turn of events, Laila’s husband dies, and she is blamed for his death. She becomes an outcast, while Qais, now completely lost in his obsession, continues to wander aimlessly.
